A call for artists!

The Help Center’s Festival of the Arts began 36 years ago and has grown from a small handful of vendors to a major event utilizing all four buildings at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds with support from businesses and media sponsorship. This holiday tradition brings together shoppers with over 80 of the top artists and craftspeople from across the Pacific Northwest.

The Festival of the Arts is the primary annual fundraiser for Bozeman’s Help Center, a 24-hour crisis counseling and referral center with over 40 years of service in the Gallatin Valley. The Help Center offers many free services including daily support for seniors via the Telecare program as well as trauma recovery counseling and advocacy through the Sexual Assault Counseling Center. A member of the American Association of Suicidology, the Help Center is also a suicide hotline accredited by Contact USA and AIRS (Alliance of Information and Referral Systems).

The festival is a juried event, ensuring that only the best regional artists and craftspeople are selected for participation. The result is an outstanding array of arts and crafts ranging from photography to painting, from natural furnishings to stained glass art. Every item at the event is handmade, and the event’s organizers have a designed emphasis on arts and crafts diversity so that there might be something for everyone.

The festival will take place Thanksgiving weekend at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 29th, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 30th. Adult admission is $3 for one day, and children under 12 will be admitted for free.

All proceeds from ticket sales as well as revenue from a silent auction benefit the Help Center and its numerous support programs.

For the artists:
We invite you to apply for our Help Center Festival of the Arts, a juried arts and crafts market. We are looking for original work, to be designed and presented by the artisan. Fresh new designs in a variety of media are given preference. Former exhibitors and new ones are welcome, but representative samples of all work must be juried separately for each artist each year.

All original work is eligible for submission. For prints or reproductions of any kind, please let us know edition quantities. Everything shown and sold must be the exhibitor’s original design. Work done by others or items made from kits, plans, patterns, stencils, dishtowels, potholders, pre-printed fabrics, or purchased molds, and RAM-pressed pottery are not accepted. For jewelry: only gems, beads, thread, hooks and clasps may be purchased parts, no uncut or unset gems. All housings for jewelry pieces must be handmade.

Approximately 104 spaces are available. You must provide whatever structure is needed to display your work. Most spaces are 10’x10’ or 10’x8’. Some have walls of the building at the back; others are in the middle and completely open. A few spaces have completely unique plans. Charges are pro-rated by square footage and exposure.

We look forward to your application for this special event. While we also anticipate reuniting with old friends and greeting familiar faces, we are actively seeking new designs and will give them preference. If you are making something original and beautiful, submit it and see what our jury thinks. We welcome your work!  -TBM
