Last month and right here in the Focal Point outpost, Casey Krohn notched her publishing debut with eight eye-grabbers that, bundled together, offered a concise collage of a winter-wrapped February in southwest Montana. If frozen-and-crunchy isn't your idea of a good time, the Gallatin Valley may not be your ideal setting for either February or March adventures.
But for many of us, this time of year is a like a smiling neighbor just across the fence, and we begin to find ourselves outdoors more often. The early sunrise, those warming rays ideal for a game of fetch in the afternoon, the give of thawed ground underfoot. We start wondering about that hole in our fly-fishing waders, what we'll need this spring for the garden, or the condition of the tire tubes on our mountain bikes.
"Won't be long now."
